| The South Stack lighthouse on the old Llyn peninsula has been rated as one of the most spookiest buildings in the British isles according to the new AA guide . Even the approach to the light house can be quite scarey , you first have to descend over 400 steps that are engraved into the vertical cliffs and then the iron bridge awaits you that swings over the foaming water. The lighthouse was built in 1809 and witnessed one of the worst storms in British history in 1853 which wrecked over 200 ships and cost over 800 lives , on that evening Jack Jones was descending the steps when a gust of wind slammed into the cliffs and dislodged a large stone , he was hit on the head by the stone causing him fatal injuries , he managed to make his way over the bridge and up the path towards the house , with blood gushing from his wounds he cried for help , but his cries were drowned out by the high winds , he was discovered the next morning , and died 3 weeks later from his injuries. It's said that the Phantom footsteps that can be heard in the light house could belong to him, and the tapping that is often heard on the windows could be him trying to get in. | |
