Lodhi Colony is a central government colony in South Central Delhi and it is the oldest area established during the British Raj period. Locals dread a particular house which is situated in H Block of Police Colony in Lodi Road. It is a sombre flat in the first floor of a crowded block. The Pandey family, living in this house for last few years, has many times witnessed a phantom leaping from a tree in the backyard on to their house.
" It was like a condensed form of smoke emanating from the tree and spiraling up to window," said a local resident who witnessed to this apparition. "The manifestation was almost like an electric smoke," said the local.
The wraith is believed to be of a woman who killed herself in this house dousing kerosene and subsequently setting herself on fire. The neighbours say the phantom slithers up and down the tree, runs through the building passage and sometimes slides the people off their bed in a huff. She probably did not like her house to be occupied by anybody and tormented the tenants with a fit of contempt.
Pushkar, a local resident, said, "The woman phantom appears in this place very often, kicks and slaps the people during their sleep". "It is an absolute horror to see her", Pushkar confided.
The Pandey family, which was reluctant to talk to the camera, however, was more than willing to share their uncanny experiences off camera. "She hounded us only a few days ago," said a woman member of Pandey's family. "Even in summer we are forced to close our windows," she said.
