| Binaural beats are said to affect our brain wave patterns. - Quote :
- Binaural beats or binaural tones are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain for specific physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, and earned greater public awareness in the late 20th century based on claims that binaural beats could help induce relaxation, meditation, creativity and other desirable mental states. The effect on the brainwaves depends on the difference in frequencies of each tone, for example, if 300 Hz was played in one ear and 310 in the other, then the Binaural beat would have a frequency of 10 Hz.[citation needed]
The brain produces a phenomenon resulting in low-frequency pulsations in the amplitude and sound localization of a perceived sound when two tones at slightly different frequencies are presented separately, one to each of a subject's ears, using stereo headphones. A beating tone will be perceived, as if the two tones mixed naturally, out of the brain. The frequency of the tones must be about 20 to 20,000 hertz for the beating to be heard. The difference between the two frequencies must be small (below about 30 Hz) for the effect to occur; otherwise, the two tones will be heard separately and no beat will be perceived.
Binaural beats are of interest to neurophysiologists investigating the sense of hearing. Binaural beats reportedly influence the brain in more subtle ways through the entrainment of brainwaves[1][2] and have been claimed to reduce anxiety[3] and provide other health benefits such as control over pain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_beatsCould they also help us prepare for an investigation? Could playing these at an investigation over loud speakers have an affect on the surroundings and/or any spirits that are able to hear it? check this set of youtube vids; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twm1cAEWb8w&feature=related

| Hi extralian,
Just out of interest do you know who decided what hertz the current note scale should be exactly?
For example i think A is supposedly exactly 440 htz? prior to that it could be anywhere around?- was told that so not sure if the hrtz are correct or was just an example.
RE your post, it would make sense i guess, i put on certain music for certain situations,, different types of music depending on my mood or if im driving etc maybe thats a subconcious thing???
Awesome idea to use it in investigations though, would well be worth a try.
Cheers Tobz. | |

| I think it would only be useful towards people that are not suffering any form of depression or bi-polar. So before commensing with this, it maybe good to go through people filling out medical type forms.
Although, it might be worth talking to a parasychologist like Cal Cooper or even Ciaran O'keefe about further uses x
