looks like there is something standing by the tree....trick of light prob but looks strange

Hi Clive, it's quite likely that it is a lens flare caused by the bright reflection from the aerial in the lower left of the image. If you look carefully it also seems that the anomaly is actually in front of the very top of the wooden fence post (slightly).
Thanks for the picture but in this case I would say that it is, as you suggested, a trick of light. Smile

I agree Robb,

The bright flair from the cameras flash will cause lighter areas of the background image to look unusual. In this case I think we are just looking at an area of the trunk that is lighter and a more reflective surface.

The distance of the background image is quite far from the flash source here, and the resolution of the entire image is compromised by the poor light. It is difficult to see clearly what the anomaly is, but my guess would be flair or just a change on the pattern of contrast or grain in this image.
